Dr. Kimo Armitage believes that the holocaust of colonization has been perpetuated by externally generated narratives that diminish native contributions, rewrite authentic histories and mongrelize indigenous knowledge systems. Dr. Armitage believes that native writers and native publishers must reinscribe and reterritorialize our literary landscapes to sever colonial attempts to dispossess and reassign indigenous identities. He has written over 30 books - mostly for children, in Hawaiian and English. He has also published over 200 poems in national and local journals. |
