I am an English Major at UH Hilo and grew up in Ka’ū on the Big Island of Hawai’i.
I’ve always had a passion for reading and artistic expression. Growing up in Hawai’i has had an incredible influence on my creativity and relationship with nature. The stories and legends about the Hawaiians' close connection with their environment through the tales of the 'Aumākua has taught me how to view the world in a more personal and admirable way.
When I imagine the the Olelo noʻeau: ʻAʻohe pau ka ʻike i ka hālau hoʻokahi; One learns from many sources, I see the way stories and legends have shaped my understanding of not only my home, but the rest of the world around me.
